Riggs-Riley House

This Federal style house in the Georgetown Historic District was built in 1816.

This house, built in 1816, is an outstanding example of Federal style architecture, especially its fanlight about the front door. It was once the temporary residence of Jackie Kennedy and her two children after they left the White House following her husband's, President John F. Kennedy's, assassination, and the home of W. Averell Harriman, a Cabinet member, Under Secretary of State, ambassador, and one-time Govenor of New York. Therefore, in addition to its remarkable architecture, the home has been strongly linked to American history.
