General Baking Company Bakery (Bond Bread Factory): Located on Georgia Avenue, the Bond Bread Factory is an impressive Art Deco style industrial building constructed in 1929.
Text
The General Baking Company's Bond Bread Factory is an Art Deco style industrial building facing Georgia Avenue NW. Constructed in 1929 to the designs of architect Corry B. Comstock, the building's style, quality craftsmanship, and decorative detailing are rare for the city's industrial building stock.
Although currently vacant, the building survives in good condition and retains its integrity of setting, location, design, materials, craftsmanship, feeling, and association. There are plans to redevelop and rehabilitate the Bond Bread Factory and neighboring Washington Railway and Electric Company (WRECO) Garage.
